A Crankshaft Driven PTO is driven by the front of the engine crankshaft. They are mostly used in heavy-duty and extra-heavy-duty applications requiring auxiliary power while the vehicle is in motion. A clutch-type Crankshaft Driven P.T.O. is preferred because it can be engaged without shutting off the engine. A mechanical shift can be used as long as the engine is shut off when engaging or disengaging the PTO. The Chelsea 2330U Series PTO Front Mount Gear Box is an engine crankshaft-driven mounts on the front of the vehicle and is designed to operate from the crankshaft of the engine which allows the driver to shift “on the go”. The electric-over-air unit features an enlarged air shift piston to assure quick, reliable shifting, and heavy duty sealing to protect against air leakage. The 2330U series speed ratios range from 39% to 123% of engine speed. Seven output types are available, including Chelsea’s 360° rotatable flanges. Electronic over speed control is available to protect driven equipment from over-speeding.

The economical 2442 Series is a manual shift PTO which requires the operator to stop the engine before shifting. It is available in seven different speed ratios, ranging from 39% of engine speed to 123% of engine speed. Shift options include air, wire, lever, electric-over-air, and the Chelsea PTO/Dump Pump Combo Valve. Wide selection of 442 Series output options available including grease-able shafts and 10 shift options.
